Combine raspberries, sugar, and vanilla in a heavy-bottomed saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring often, until sauce is thick and smooth, about 15 minutes.
You can remove the seeds in a strainer if you don't like them. It is important to do this before the sauce thickens.
If desired, you can use stevia instead of sugar.
