Navy-style pasta with canned stewed meat is usually perceived as a dish prepared exclusively on a camping trip – in a large pot over a campfire. However, the recipe for navy-style pasta can save you if you need to quickly prepare a complete homemade meal! The dish will turn out hearty and tasty, and also quite budget-friendly! Of course, the final result will depend on the quality of the canned stewed meat – choose one that only contains meat, bay leaf, salt, and pepper. And choose pasta to your liking – spirals, bows, and shells will all work! The main thing is that they should be made from durum wheat.

Boil 2 liters of water, add salt and add pasta. Cook pasta until firm according to package instructions, about 6-8 minutes. Do not increase the cooking time for the pasta to prevent it from becoming too soft.
Drain the pasta in a colander, save 120 ml of the cooking liquid, it will be needed to prepare the sauce. Cut the onion into small cubes. Chop the garlic.
Open the can of stew and remove the meat. Mash the pieces of meat with a fork or separate them into individual fibers. Transfer the fat from the stew into a deep frying pan.
Place the skillet on the stove, set the heat to medium-high, and melt the beef fat. If it is not enough, add 1 tbsp. l. vegetable oil.
Place the chopped onion in the pan and simmer until translucent, stirring frequently with a spatula, 4 minutes. Add garlic, add paprika and continue cooking for another 1 minute.
Add the stew and tomato paste to the pan, pour in the reserved pasta cooking liquid. Season with freshly ground black pepper and cook over medium heat for 2-3 minutes.
Remove the stems and finely chop the parsley leaves. Transfer the cooked pasta to the pan with the stew. Add half the parsley and stir gently. Cook for another 1-2 minutes.
Divide the pasta into bowls and sprinkle with the remaining parsley. Add the tomatoes and serve immediately before the pasta cools.
