Thaw the capelin and rinse. Gut it if desired, but this is not necessary. Place the washed fish in a colander and lightly dry. You can use paper towels.
Mix flour and salt in a large bowl. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan. In small portions, roll the fish in flour, shaking off any remaining flour.
