Redcurrant juice is a light, refreshing, vitamin-rich drink for any time of year. In summer, cooled, it quenches thirst well, and in winter, warm, it warms and saturates the body with valuable vitamins. During the berry season, prepare it from fresh currants, raspberries, cherries, strawberries and wild strawberries. And in winter, frozen stocks will come to your aid. It is in fruit drinks, unlike compotes, that more beneficial vitamins are retained. All thanks to a special cooking technology: the berries are first mashed and juice is obtained, and then added to the compote. It contains a lot of vitamin C, which is responsible for immunity, as well as iodine. The bright color of the drink understands the mood and relieves fatigue. And with the help of various additives, you can make the taste of fruit drink even more original.

Rinse the red currants thoroughly in cold water, dry with paper towels, and remove any debris and twigs. Carefully remove the berries from the brush.
Place the currants in a deep bowl, mash lightly with a spoon or fork to release juice. Add 2 tbsp. l. cold boiled water, mix thoroughly.
Place the berries in a sieve and squeeze out the juice. If the berries do not juice well, start adding boiled water little by little. Place the berry juice in the refrigerator.
Place the mashed berries in a saucepan, pour in 3 cups of hot water, put on fire and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 8 minutes. Remove from heat, cover and let steep for 25-30 minutes. Then strain the broth and squeeze the berries into it.
Pour sugar into the compote and stir until completely dissolved. Continue cooking until all the sugar has dissolved. Cool completely to room temperature.
Pour the cooled juice into the broth, stir and return to the refrigerator. When serving, garnish the glasses with sprigs of red currants, mint or lemon slices.
