Begin by thoroughly rinsing all the dried fruits in several changes of water, then drain them in a colander. To ensure maximum removal of impurities and preservatives, pour boiling water over the dried fruits and let them sit for one to two minutes.
Place the prepared dried fruits on a kitchen towel or paper napkins to absorb excess moisture. Meanwhile, boil 2 liters of drinking water and pour it into an enamel pot, then place the pot over medium heat.
Carefully add the dried fruit to the boiling water, stir, and simmer over medium heat for 5 minutes. Afterward, turn off the heat and cover the pot with a lid.
Allow the pot of compote to cool slowly to room temperature. For a richer flavor, we recommend wrapping the pot in a blanket or throw to ensure the cooling process is as slow as possible.
Once the compote is ready, add honey and citric acid to taste, then stir thoroughly. The drink is now ready to serve! You can pour it into glasses with or without the dried fruit, as you prefer.
