Prepare the sausages: thoroughly pat them dry with paper towels, then cut them into pieces of your desired size, suitable for both eating and deep-frying. Keep in mind that the longer the sausage, the deeper the oil layer in the deep fryer should be. Carefully thread each sausage piece onto a skewer.
Pour vegetable oil into a saucepan or a roasting pan of appropriate size. It is important that the container is not too wide, otherwise the layer of oil will be insufficient, and you will need more oil. Heat the oil to a temperature of 170–180 °C.
Take a skewer with a sausage, carefully dip it into the batter, and gently rotate it to ensure the sausage is evenly coated on all sides. As you remove the sausage, twist it slightly again to get rid of any excess batter.
Carefully lower the batter-coated sausage into the deep fryer and cook for about 3 minutes until a beautiful golden crust forms. You can fry 2–3 pieces at a time. Avoid submerging too many sausages to prevent the deep fryer's temperature from dropping.
Place the fried corn dogs on a wire rack or paper towels to drain excess oil. Then transfer them to a serving dish and serve with your favorite sauces.
While the oil is heating, prepare the sausage batter. In one bowl, combine all the dry ingredients: corn and wheat flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder. In a separate bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients: egg, milk, a tablespoon of vegetable oil, and honey.
Combine the wet and dry ingredients using a mixer until the consistency is completely smooth. The batter should be thick enough to cling to a spoon and thoroughly coat the hot dog. Pour the prepared batter into a tall container, such as a large glass, for easy vertical dipping of the hot dogs on skewers.
