Wash the potatoes and set aside.
Fill a large pot with water; stir the salt until it is completely dissolved and the salt settles to the bottom of the pan. Place the potatoes in a saucepan and bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer until potatoes are tender but firm, about 15 minutes. drainage; cover to keep hot and allow the salty crust to form.
