This Belgian cookie is made using a special waffle iron (called krumkake) over a gas burner.

Beat together butter and sugar. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in the vanilla, salt and whiskey.
Add the flour in small portions and mix by hand after each addition.
Cover and refrigerate the dough overnight.
Lightly grease and heat a cookie sheet over a gas burner set to medium heat. Roll about 1 tablespoon of dough into a small cigar-like shape. Place the dough on a heated iron and press. Cook until golden, about 30 seconds per side. Remove the cookies from the iron and let them cool.
