About This Recipe

Mannik on milk is a very delicious, airy, and tender pie that your children will definitely love. The classic mannik is baked only with semolina, without adding flour. This gives it a distinctive crumbly texture! The mannik recipe is very simple, and the ingredients for baking can be found in every home. The only difficulty you may encounter is resisting the temptation to cut a piece until it has completely cooled down. The full flavor is revealed only in a cooled mannik. Therefore, if you plan to serve this dish for breakfast, bake it the evening before. Sprinkle the mannik with powdered sugar and serve with sour cream or garnish with fresh berries or canned fruits.

Preparation Steps

1

Step 1

Heat the milk to 30-32°C. Pour the semolina into a large bowl, pour in warm milk and leave for 45-60 minutes to allow the semolina to swell. The semolina should absorb all the milk.

2

Step 2

Place the butter in a small saucepan and melt over low heat. You can also melt butter in the microwave. Cool the oil to room temperature.

3

Step 3

Preheat oven to 175°C. Place a grill on the middle level. Grease an ovenproof dish with a diameter of 22 cm with butter. Mannik can be baked in a silicone mold; it is not necessary to grease it with oil.

4

Step 4

In a second bowl, combine eggs with sugar, add a pinch of salt and beat with a mixer until fluffy. Beat eggs for 5 minutes. Add baking powder, pour in butter and mix again with a mixer.

5

Step 5

Pour the egg-butter mixture into a bowl with the prepared semolina and stir again. At this stage, it is better to mix the ingredients with a spatula so as not to disturb the airy structure of the dough.

6

Step 6

Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Place the pan in the center of the oven and bake the manna for 55-60 minutes. Check readiness with a wooden skewer; if necessary, continue baking the manna for another 5-10 minutes. If the top crust browns too much, cover the pan with foil.

7

Step 7

Remove the pan with semolina from the oven and leave on the work surface for 5-10 minutes. Carefully transfer to a flat plate and cool completely. Cut the manna into portions and serve with any toppings of your choice.

Enjoy your meal!
