To prepare the dough for poppy seed pie with kefir, remove the kefir and eggs from the refrigerator in advance. They should be at room temperature. Sift the flour into a large bowl.
Prepare the poppy seeds. Pour the seeds into a bowl and cover with cold water until all the specks float to the surface. Drain the water and place the poppy seeds in a sieve. Boil 1 glass of water in a saucepan, put poppy seeds in it and cook for 7 minutes. Remove from heat, cover and leave to steam for 10 minutes. Then place on a sieve. If you like crispy poppy seeds, just steam them in boiling water.
In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and sugar with a mixer into a white fluffy mass. Pour kefir into the egg mixture and mix everything at low mixer speed. Then add vegetable oil and mix again.
Add flour to the liquid mixture in portions and mix with a mixer at low speed. With the last portion of flour, add baking powder, salt and vanilla sugar, mix. Add the poppy seeds and finish kneading the dough with a spatula. Check to see if there is any unkneaded flour at the bottom of the bowl.
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease a pie pan with poppy seeds and kefir with vegetable oil and sprinkle with flour. Pour the batter into the baking pan, place in the oven and bake for 35-45 minutes. The time depends on your oven.
Remove the finished poppy seed cake from the oven and let stand in the pan for 5 minutes. Then carefully remove from the pan and transfer the cake to a baking rack to cool further.
