Banana bread with chocolate and nuts is one of the most popular recipes in American home baking. It's no wonder – you'll need the simplest and most budget-friendly ingredients, and the whole process takes no more than an hour. The banana bread turns out very soft, moist, and aromatic – just the description alone can whet your appetite! You can serve banana bread for breakfast, take a couple of slices with you to work, or bake it for a leisurely Sunday afternoon snack. Additionally, this pastry can be served as a dessert, especially if you add a scoop of ice cream to the plate! Another advantage of banana bread is that it can be stored in the refrigerator for a whole week.

Preheat oven to 180°C. Place a rack on the middle level. Line a 22x12cm rectangular tin with baking paper and grease with a little butter.
Melt the butter in a small saucepan. Add brown sugar to the hot butter and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Cool the mixture to room temperature.
Mash 3 peeled bananas with a fork until smooth. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, add the milk and vanilla extract, and whisk to combine. Add banana puree and butter and sugar to the mixture and mix again.
Combine flour with baking powder, salt and cinnamon and sift through a sieve. Pour the flour mixture into the bowl with the wet ingredients and stir with a spatula. There is no need to stir the dough for a long time, just enough for all the ingredients to come together.
Cut the chocolate into small pieces, coarsely chop the walnuts, cut the remaining banana into 1 cm thick circles. Add half the nuts and chocolate to the dough and mix gently.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the surface with a silicone spatula. Place banana slices on top and sprinkle with remaining nuts and chocolate.
Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes. Check doneness with a wooden skewer and bake the banana bread for another 5-7 minutes if necessary.
Remove the banana bread pan from the oven and leave in it for 15-20 minutes. Then transfer the bread to a wire rack and let cool completely. Cut into slices 1.5-2 cm thick and serve.
