Step 1

Mix a glass of water and a glass of sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a low simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar. Add the flavorings below, cover and remove from heat. Let it brew for 30 minutes. Strain the syrup into a clean, prepared bottle and refrigerate.

Step 2

Syrup with oranges and cranberries. Add the zest of 1 orange, cut into long strips, and a quarter cup of fresh or frozen cranberries to the base syrup.

Step 3

Syrup with lime and mint. Add the zest of 2 limes, cut into long strips, and 3 sprigs of mint to the base syrup.

Step 4

Syrup with green tea and honey. Add 2 green tea bags to the base syrup. Just before straining the syrup, pour in 1 tbsp. l. orange honey.
