In the season of northern berries—from early autumn to late spring, when there are still stocks in the freezers—this five-minute cranberry jam is a great option. You can make it every day if you like, as it requires hardly any effort. Essentially, it's not even necessary to pre-soak the cranberries in sugar—you can simply heat them to a boil over low heat, and then cook according to the name—for exactly five minutes.

Sort frozen or fresh cranberries, removing stems and leaves. Pour the sorted berries into a bowl for jam or a wide saucepan/saucepan with a thick bottom. Add sugar to the cranberries, mix gently and leave for 8–12 hours. During this time, the cranberries and sugar can be mixed several times.
Place the basin/pan/saucepan in the cranberries over high heat and, stirring gently, bring to a boil. Reduce the heat slightly and simmer, stirring gently from time to time, for 5–7 minutes. Carefully skim off any foam.
Remove the container with jam from the heat, transfer the hot jam into sterilized jars, close, turn the jars over and cool them upside down. This jam is best stored in the refrigerator.
