About This Recipe

Kulich "Craffin" made from puff pastry is a real find for the modern housewife who doesn't have time to spend hours at the stove. Moreover, this is one of those cases where "simple" doesn't mean "bad." Especially if you find really delicious puff pastry dough, which will serve as the base for the kulich. But what exactly is "craffin"? It's a hybrid of a croissant and a muffin - a cupcake made from puff pastry dough. Recently, our housewives have started to regularly serve it on the Easter table because this kulich looks very impressive. Try the craffin recipe in practice, especially since our version is as simple as possible.

Preparation Steps

1

Step 1

Prepare all ingredients. Transfer the frozen puff pastry from the freezer to the refrigerator and let it thaw slowly (you can leave the dough to thaw overnight to prepare the cakes in the morning).

2

Step 2

Sort out the raisins for Easter cakes, rinse and place in a bowl. Fill with warm water and leave for 10 minutes. Then drain in a colander, place on paper towels and let dry.

3

Step 3

Place the puff pastry on a floured work surface and divide in half. Roll each part into a thin layer. Sprinkle the dough evenly with sugar and distribute the raisins.

4

Step 4

Roll the raisin layers into rolls along the long side. Roll the rolls quite tightly so that no voids are formed, work carefully so as not to stretch the puff pastry.

5

Step 5

Using a sharp knife, cut one long roll of puff pastry with raisins lengthwise into two pieces, without cutting through the 2cm section. Then roll one half up tightly, snail-like, outwards.

6

Step 6

Wrap the second part of the roll tightly around the “snail”, moving in a spiral. Hide the tip inside. Prepare the preparation for the second cruffin in the same way.

7

Step 7

Grease metal cake pans with butter or use disposable paper pans. Place dough pieces of cruffin cakes in them. Cover with a towel and leave in a warm place for 20 minutes to proof.

8

Step 8

Preheat the oven to 190°C. Brush the cruffin cakes with an egg lightly beaten with two tablespoons of water. Bake the cruffins for about 30 minutes. Let cool and sprinkle with powdered sugar through a strainer.

Enjoy your meal!
