Pickled cucumbers that stay crisp for winter make an excellent off-season snack, but during the cold season, they will be especially welcome on the table. Importantly, cucumbers prepared according to this recipe retain their vitamins for a long time, especially the cold-fighting vitamin C. Sealing cucumbers is simple. The most challenging part of pickling is actually the marinade. You need to calculate the amount so it suffices for all the jars. But adjust according to the situation: if one batch isn't enough, prepare more. The size of the cucumbers, by the way, also matters in this process.

Prepare the cucumbers. Rinse them thoroughly under cold water, or leave them in a bowl of water for a while. Dry, remove the ends of the cucumbers - cut off about 1 cm from each edge.
Prepare the marinade. In a large saucepan, combine water, vinegar, salt and sugar. Bring to a boil and cook for 5-7 minutes until the salt and sugar are completely dissolved. Leave the marinade to cool.
Prepare the jars. Wash them thoroughly with hot water and soda and dry. Peel the garlic and onions and place them in the bottom of a sterilized jar. Add sprigs and leaves of herbs, bay leaves and other spices.
Fill the jars with cucumbers. Place the cucumbers tightly together, leaving no gaps. Pour hot brine over the cucumbers, leaving a small gap at the top.
Cover the jars with lids and place them in a large saucepan with hot water - the water level should reach the level of the neck of the jars. Place the pan over medium heat and bring the water to a boil. Sterilize the cucumbers for 15-20 minutes until the cucumbers change color - they should turn pale.
Remove the jars from the pan, immediately roll them tightly, turn them upside down and leave the jars at room temperature to cool. Then transfer the jars to a cool, dry storage area. Pickled cucumbers are ready for the winter.
