Cheese rolls with stuffing will make a wonderful treat on the festive table, suitable for breakfast and a hearty snack during the day. Such an appetizer is the best way to delight your family or guests with a tasty and original dish. The main ingredients in this recipe are cheese, spicy pepperoni, and boiled sausage. Moreover, the baked cheese serves as the base of the roll: the other ingredients are wrapped inside it. And the stuffing in the cheese roll can be very diverse. Fresh vegetables, greens, mushrooms, and even other cheeses, like soft cream cheese, for example, will work well. Unusual cheese rolls with stuffing are something you most likely haven't tried yet! This is a simple but very interesting appetizer made from baked cheese (both thin slices and grated cheese will work) with stuffing made of two types of sausages and fresh vegetables. The baked cheese becomes golden and simultaneously pliable. Let it cool a bit and wrap any stuffing in thin layers of it – such as the one in our recipe, or another one of your choice. Cut the doctor's sausage, pepperoni and tomato into thin slices. Cut the onion into halves of rings. Tear the romaine lettuce into small pieces.
Preheat the oven to 180°C and line a baking tray with baking paper. Arrange the cheese in groups of two slices, slightly overlapping. If you have a whole piece of cheese, grate it and distribute it into 4 rectangles on a baking sheet. Bake the cheese on the middle rack of the oven for 5-7 minutes. The slices should turn golden. Remove the pan from the oven and pat the cheese dry with paper towels.
Place sausage slices on the baked cheese and brush with mayonnaise. Add tomato, lettuce and onion. Drizzle with mustard and season with freshly ground black pepper. While the cheese base is warm and pliable, quickly roll up the sandwich, cut diagonally into two pieces and serve immediately.
