Cut the pita bread into rectangles measuring 15 x 20 cm. Lightly brush them on both sides with melted butter and place them in a round pan, overlapping them so that half of each piece hangs over the side. Leave some space in the center to create a donut shape.
Thinly slice the ham and salami. Place on pita bread in one or two layers.
Remove seeds and membranes from the bell pepper and slice very thinly. Spread the peppers over the salami and ham. If you want a spicy sandwich, you can also add chopped chili.
Place thinly sliced mozzarella on the peppers. You can put some thin slices of butter on it.
Wrap the loose ends of the pita bread over the filling and tuck them under so that all the filling is covered. Grate the cheese and sprinkle on the bagel. Cover the pan with foil and place in an oven preheated to 180°C for 10–12 minutes. Remove the foil and leave the dish in the oven for another 3-4 minutes to allow the cheese to golden. Serve the pita bagel hot.
