This solyanka with potatoes is aptly named "assorted": it truly combines a huge variety of ingredients — meat and sausages, vegetables and pickles. And, it must be said, as a result, we get a soup with a very original taste that makes a pleasant impression on everyone who has tried it. The most unexpected ingredient in the assorted solyanka with potatoes is probably sweet pepper. We consider its use completely justified: it adds special, piquant notes to the soup and very delicately enhances the characteristic slightly sour taste of the dish.

Prepare the ingredients for the hodgepodge with potatoes. Cut beef, bacon, sausage and brisket into strips. Sweet pepper, removing seeds and membranes, cut into cubes. Peel and chop the onion.
Wash the potatoes and carrots for solyanka, peel and cut into cubes. Peel the pickles and, if the fruits are large, remove the seeds. Cut the pulp into cubes.
Heat the oil in a saucepan, add the bacon and fry over medium heat for 3 minutes. Add all the prepared vegetables, except potatoes and cucumbers, then, stirring, fry until browned.
Peel and chop the garlic. Add to the saucepan with the vegetables and fry for 2 minutes. Add tomato paste, add a little salt and pepper and cook for 5 minutes.
Place the resulting frying in a saucepan and fill with broth. Bring to a boil, add meat, smoked meats and bay leaf. Cook covered for 45 minutes.
Add chopped potatoes with pickles, olives and capers. Salt and pepper to taste. Cook for another 15 minutes over low heat with the lid on. Before serving, add a slice of lemon to each plate of solyanka.
