Simple candied apples are a recipe for homemade sweets that are prepared from just two ingredients - apples and sugar - with the addition of water. Such fruit “sweets” will come in handy for tea drinking; they can be added to porridge or yogurt, decorated with desserts, and used for baking. The apple is rich in fiber and iron, and the best part is that candied apples retain these beneficial properties of fresh fruit. Sugar acts as a preservative and helps manage the apple harvest. During the season, you can not only dry apples, make jam or compote from them, but also prepare candied fruits like this - especially since they can be stored for a whole year in a tightly closed glass jar. However, the “winter” apple is also suitable for making candied fruits.

Cut the peeled apples in half, remove the seeds, and cut the pulp into neat slices. Pour 250 ml of water into a large saucepan, add sugar and cook the syrup for 5 minutes. Add apples and bring to a boil. Remove the saucepan from the heat and leave the apples in it for 6 hours.
Remove the apples with a slotted spoon and boil the syrup. Return the apples to the saucepan and cook over medium heat for another 5 minutes. Drain the apple syrup through a sieve into another bowl; it will no longer be needed. The syrup can be used to prepare other dishes.
Preheat oven to 40°C. Line a wire rack with baking paper and arrange the apples in a single layer. Dry the candied fruits in the center of the oven for 8 hours. Leave to cool in the oven with the door ajar. Place the finished candied fruits into a container, close the lid and store in a dry place.
