Lemon tincture is what you need in the autumn-winter period. It has a pleasant citrus taste and aroma. The drink is infused with lemon zest and juice, which in turn are rich in vitamin C. Lemon tincture is better known in the world as limoncello. It is customary to prepare it in the south of Italy. There, every self-respecting family has a bottle of the ice-cold yellow drink, which they cordially treat guests and tourists to. We will also try to prepare a similar drink at home. The tincture can be made with vodka, cognac or moonshine. But, in our opinion, with alcohol the taste is more rich and classic. If desired, it can be diluted with water or used as an additive to cocktails. Suitable for making baked goods and desserts.

Prepare all ingredients for making lemon tincture. Rinse citrus fruits thoroughly with a vegetable brush and wipe dry with a kitchen towel.
Remove the zest from two lemons using a vegetable knife or just a sharp knife. And then, using a citrus juicer, squeeze out the juice. Strain it to remove the seeds.
Prepare the syrup. Combine water, sugar, lemon zest and juice in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Cook, stirring, until the sugar dissolves. You will need no more than 1-2 minutes.
Use a paring knife to zest the remaining lemons. Peel and cut the pulp into equal cubes. Place the zest and pulp in a clean glass container. Both a jar and a bottle with a thick neck will do.
Pour the cooled syrup and ethyl alcohol into the jar, stir with a spoon. Close the neck tightly with a lid (cork the bottle), put it in a cool place for 3-4 days.
Strain the finished lemon tincture through two layers of cheesecloth, pour into a clean and dry container, and seal with a lid. Store in a cool place for no more than a year.
