About This Recipe

Why not make thick, delicious redcurrant jam for the winter if you have collected a generous harvest of red berries at your dacha? The only thing simpler than the recipe we offer you is freezing. Jam can be prepared in different ways. We will first heat the berries together with the peel a little, without bringing them to a boil. This will release pectin, which will make your jam thick and delicious. And then, so that the jam becomes homogeneous, grind the berries through a sieve. It tastes quite sweet, but with pronounced sourness. A jar of scarlet dessert will help you out in the cold winter. For example, you can spread it on a toasted slice of white bread and treat your family for breakfast. The dessert will also be an excellent addition to pancakes, pancakes, cheesecakes and ice cream.

Preparation Steps

1

Step 1

Carefully sort out the red currants to remove any debris that may have entered during collection. Remove spoiled berries. Then transfer to a colander and wash under clean running water.

2

Step 2

Place the currants in a wide container with a thick bottom. Add sugar to it. Stir with a spoon so that the berries give as much juice as possible. They should wrinkle and burst.

3

Step 3

Place the container on the stove and heat the berries with sugar over low heat for about 4-5 minutes. Do not let the mixture boil so as not to destroy the valuable pectin found in currants. Stir constantly to prevent sugar from sticking to the bottom.

4

Step 4

Grind the resulting berry mass through a sieve or grind with a blender. Transfer to the pan and return to the stove. Add cinnamon and stir. Bring to a boil and cook for 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat.

5

Step 5

Prepare jars and lids. Rinse them thoroughly with baking soda and then dry. Sterilize in any way convenient for you (on the stove or in the microwave).

6

Step 6

Distribute the jam into stylized jars and seal with lids. Turn it over, wrap it in a blanket and leave it for a day. Then store in a dark and cool place.

Enjoy your meal!
