Be sure to prepare the bright and tasty “Turtle” salad with chicken and walnuts with your children! They will probably enjoy assembling the turtle as a construction set: make the head and legs from an egg or grated cheese, and olives are suitable for the eyes. According to the classic recipe, the salad is prepared with chicken fillet, eggs, cheese, apples and walnuts. We won't stray too far from the basics. But as a highlight, let’s add a layer of prunes. To make it soft, dried fruits must be soaked in hot water in advance and allowed to brew. If desired, the composition of the salad can be changed: instead of chicken, use turkey, add pineapple, and cover the shell with grapes.

For the Turtle salad with chicken and walnuts, boil the meat and eggs in advance. Place the chicken fillet in a saucepan, cover with water and bring to a boil. Add some salt. Cook until done (about 30 minutes). Cool the meat.
Wash the eggs and place them in a saucepan with water. Add salt to prevent them from cracking. Then cook for about 7 minutes. Fill with cold water and clean. Divide into whites and yolks. Set aside one egg for decoration.
Prepare a flat dish. Grate the whites on a fine grater and place them in the first layer, forming a turtle shell. Salt and coat with a thin layer of mayonnaise.
Remove the cooled chicken from the broth (we won't need it) and cut into small cubes, then distribute evenly over the whites. Also grease with mayonnaise.
Peel the onion and cut into half rings. If you don’t like the bitterness of onions, place them in a colander and pour boiling water over them. Cool and then spoon onto chicken.
Steam the prunes. To do this, pour boiling water over it and leave for 5-7 minutes. Then drain in a colander, cool and cut into cubes. Spread over onions.
Wash and dry the apple. Peel and grate the pulp on a fine grater. Sprinkle with lemon juice to prevent browning. Place on prunes.
Next, lay out a layer of grated cheese and grated yolk on top. Salt and grease with mayonnaise. Garnish the salad with walnuts crushed in a mortar or coffee grinder. Make the head from an egg and the legs from walnuts. Draw a mesh pattern on the shell using mayonnaise.
