Lemon and orange jam is not particularly popular in our country, although it has a very expressive taste and rich aroma. But if you try to make this delicacy at least once, you will certainly repeat it for an encore. In addition, you can prepare such jam at any time of the year, because oranges and lemons are constantly available in our stores. Therefore, there is no need to stand at the stove for a long time, boiling several kilograms of fruit in syrup. We prepared a couple of jars, ate them, and can make more. By the way, the process of making jam itself is like an aromatherapy session for those around you: the smell of lemon and orange will charm your family and will certainly intrigue your neighbors. Prepare oranges and lemons. Wash the fruit with a brush or the stiff side of a sponge with dish soap to remove the wax that many manufacturers coat citrus fruits with to help preserve them.
Pour water into a large saucepan (about 2/3 full) and bring it to a boil. Remove from heat and place prepared oranges and lemons inside. Leave for 30 minutes, then transfer to a container of very cold water. Leave for 8 hours.
Cut the oranges and lemons first into 1 cm thick slices and then into slices. Remove the seeds. Pour sugar into a large saucepan and fill with drinking water (140 ml). Stirring, bring to a boil.
Remove the syrup from the heat and dip the prepared oranges and lemons into it. Leave for 4 hours. Then put on the fire, bring to a boil and cook for about 20 minutes. Let cool.
Put the syrup with oranges and lemons back on the fire. Cook for 20 minutes over medium heat. Let cool. For the third time, put the pan with citrus fruits in syrup on the fire and cook for another 20 minutes.
Pour the hot orange and lemon jam into dry, sterilized jars. Roll up the lids and turn over onto a folded towel. Let cool completely.
