Lush manna with milk in the oven - a recipe from time immemorial! Original Russian pastries appeared back in the 13th century. It was at that time that semolina was brought to Rus', and it became popular among the population. According to one version, a traveler from the East brought the pie recipe. Essentially, the dessert is an adapted version of a delicacy called “Bazbusa”. An overseas pie was traditionally soaked in syrup or honey, and our manna is sometimes filled with milk. Surprisingly, over many years the baking recipe was not lost and came to us in the same form as the housewives prepared it. The dough is made with kefir, fermented baked milk, sour cream, and yogurt. We suggest making a pie with milk.

Prepare all the ingredients needed for the recipe. Remove milk and eggs from the refrigerator in advance so that they warm up to room temperature.
Break an egg into a bowl, add regular and vanilla sugar, cinnamon. Beat with a mixer or blender until the mass turns white and increases in volume. Pour vegetable oil into the eggs and continue beating. Add orange zest and stir.
Pour the milk into a small saucepan, add the butter and heat everything together until the butter is melted. Pour into a deep container.
Add the egg mixture to the milk and stir. Add semolina, cover the bowl and leave warm for 30-40 minutes. The semolina should swell.
Sift the flour through a fine sieve and add it to the dough in portions, stirring thoroughly after each one. You should get a homogeneous mass without lumps.
Grease a round baking dish with a diameter of 20 cm with butter. Sprinkle with flour. Distribute the dough evenly into it.
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Place the pie pan in it. Bake for about 40 minutes. You can check readiness with a wooden skewer.
Remove the manna from the oven and then from the pan. Transfer to a plate. Before serving, you can sprinkle the manna with powdered sugar and garnish with orange slices.
