Making homemade baked ham is surprisingly simple and doesn't require any special culinary talents. Unlike store-bought versions, you can control every spice, creating the perfect flavor. To make the meat incredibly tender and give it a slight sweetness, add a little carrot to the garlic. Choose a juicy piece of ham with a thin layer of fat, bake it under foil, and enjoy every bite, periodically basting it with the flavorful juices.

Prepare all ingredients: thoroughly wash and pat dry the pork leg. Peel the garlic and carrots. Prepare a high-sided baking dish, greasing it with sunflower oil, and foil.
Cut the carrots into thin sticks so that they evenly infuse the meat with their sweet flavor.
Slice the peeled garlic into thin pieces so that its aroma is evenly distributed throughout the meat.
Make deep incisions all over the surface of the pork leg with a thin knife, so that the meat absorbs the spices better.
Insert carrot sticks and garlic slices into the punctures in the meat, distributing them evenly throughout the entire piece.
Rub the ham on all sides with salt, khmeli-suneli, and black pepper to give it a rich taste and aroma.
Place the prepared ham in a baking dish, cover tightly with foil, and put it into a preheated oven at 200℃. Bake the pork for 30 minutes.
Remove the ham dish from the oven and carefully peel back the foil so the meat can begin to brown.
Baste the meat with the accumulated juices, cover the dish again with foil, and bake the pork for another 20 minutes to keep it succulent.
Remove the pan from the oven again, take off the foil, and baste the meat once more with the accumulated juices. Cover with foil and roast the pork for the final 20 minutes to achieve a golden-brown crust.
Remove the cooked pork from the oven and let it rest in the pan, covered with foil, for 15-20 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute evenly.
Remove the foil and transfer the meat from the pan to a serving platter. Let it cool to room temperature, then serve and savor every aromatic bite.
Slice the baked ham into pieces about 7-8 mm thick and serve with boiled potatoes and slices of pickled cucumber, creating a perfect combination of flavors.
Rub the pork with a thin layer of mustard and let it marinate for 1 hour to make the meat even more tender and flavorful.
