First, take the butter out of the refrigerator to allow it to reach room temperature. Thoroughly wash the potatoes, quail egg, and onion. Peel the vegetables. Prepare a saucepan, frying pan, potato masher, and baking dish.
Heat a pot of water over high heat. Cut the potatoes into several pieces and carefully place them into the boiling water. Wait for it to boil again and cook the potatoes until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
Heat a skillet with vegetable oil. Finely chop the onion and fry it in the pan for about 3-4 minutes, stirring constantly until golden brown.
Add the ground chicken to the sautéed onions in the pan. Cook everything together for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season with salt to taste and mix well. Remove the pan from the heat.
Drain the water from the boiled potatoes. Add the softened butter to them. Mash the potatoes with a potato masher until a smooth puree is obtained.
Grease a baking dish with vegetable oil. Spread half of the mashed potatoes evenly over the bottom of the dish.
Spread the fried minced meat with onions evenly over the potato layer. Then, add the remaining mashed potatoes to form the top layer of the casserole.
Preheat the oven to 180℃. Whisk the quail egg in a small bowl. Brush the top layer of the casserole with it to give it a beautiful golden crust. Place the dish in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
Cut the finished, fragrant potato casserole into individual portions and serve, garnished with delicate sour cream.
