Cut the peeled onion into small cubes. Heat olive oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion and simmer until translucent, 5-7 minutes.
Chop the garlic. Separate the parsley and basil leaves from the stems. Chop parsley leaves and large basil leaves with a knife, leave small basil leaves for decoration.
Add minced meat, garlic and chopped herbs to the prepared onion. Reduce heat to low. Fry the minced meat, constantly stirring with a spatula and breaking up lumps, for 10 minutes. The minced meat should change color and brown slightly.
Add the Hawaiian mixture to the pan. There is no need to defrost the mixture before cooking. Salt and season with freshly ground pepper. Pour in 100 ml of hot water and stir.
Cover the pan with a lid. Cook the dish over low heat for 15 minutes. Gently stir several times with a spatula. Remove the skillet from the heat and spoon the Hawaiian mixture into bowls, garnish with basil and serve immediately.
