If you do not trust the quality of store-bought salted fish, prepare mackerel in a hot marinade. The mackerel turns out surprisingly tender, spicy, and very juicy. The hot marinade for mackerel is made with the addition of vinegar, which makes the pieces of fish firmer when boiled and prevents them from falling apart. As a result, in just a few hours, you get a product fully ready for consumption. I recommend this simple and very tasty marinated fish recipe for a family dinner or festive table. You can vary the set of spices to your own taste.

Thaw the frozen mackerel at room temperature.
Wash the fish, cut off the head, tail, and fins. Remove the insides and the black film inside the belly. Wash the prepared fish again, and cut into medium-sized pieces.
For the marinade, combine salt and sugar in a small saucepan. Add the sliced clove of garlic, black and allspice pepper, coriander, and fish seasoning.
Pour 400 ml of water. Put the pot on the fire and boil the marinade for 1-2 minutes to completely dissolve the salt and sugar.
Peel the onion from the husks, slice into half-rings. Place half of the onion in a pot with the marinade.
Place the pieces of mackerel on top.
Distribute the second half of the onion over the fish. Add a bay leaf. Pour in table vinegar and sunflower oil.
Cover the pot with a lid, place it over medium heat. Bring the marinade to a boil, reduce the heat to minimum, and simmer the mackerel with onions for 8-10 minutes.
Remove the bay leaf from the pot, place the fish in the cold for 30-40 minutes. After the specified time, the marinated mackerel can be served at the table. The longer the fish is marinated, the more delicious it becomes. I prepare it a few hours before serving so that it absorbs the spices and marinade.
Serve the pickled mackerel with onions as a cold appetizer. It's very tasty with boiled potatoes and black bread. Enjoy!
