Love lightly salted herring? Try making it with a new recipe. Fish marinated in mustard sauce turns out incredibly tasty, juicy, and fragrant. The delicate mustard sauce envelops each piece of herring, giving it a spicy flavor. This appetizer is perfect for both a festive table and an everyday menu. Conveniently, the appetizer can be prepared in advance and stored on the refrigerator shelf for 3 days. With a slice of black bread, creamy mashed potatoes, or baked potatoes, marinated herring is simply perfect!

Thaw frozen herring on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator or at room temperature. Wash the fish, cut off the head, tail and fins. Remove the insides, rinse the carcass under running water. Carefully remove the skin from the fish, moving from the tail to the head. Separate the herring fillet from the spine, remove any remaining bones. Cut the fillet into serving pieces.
In a deep bowl, combine 2 types of mustard, refined oil, liquid honey, and 9% table vinegar.
Peel the onion and cut it into thin half-rings. Add the onion to the mustard marinade.
Wash green onion feathers and dill sprigs, dry them from excess moisture, and finely chop them. Add the fragrant greens to the marinade.
Add salt and ground turmeric to the mixture.
Thoroughly mix the ingredients to ensure the salt is completely dissolved.
Arrange the pieces of herring in the prepared mustard sauce with onion and herbs.
Gently mix the ingredients so that the fish is completely covered in marinade. Cover the dish with an airtight lid or plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 8 hours. I left the herring to marinate overnight.
In the specified time, the fragrant, juicy, and tender marinated herring will be ready.
Serve it with mustard sauce and your favorite potato garnish.
Enjoy!
