Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Line a pie dish with baking paper and grease with butter. It is best to use a non-removable dish for this upside-down orange cake.
Prepare the caramel filling. Pour 150g of sugar into a small saucepan and cover it with water. Place over medium heat. Wait until the sugar dissolves, and continue heating until the sugar caramelizes and turns amber-golden.
Carefully pour the batter over the orange slices in the mold. Smooth the top with a spatula. Bake in a preheated oven for 40-45 minutes. You can check the cake's readiness by piercing it with a dry wooden skewer - it should come out clean.
Take the orange pie out of the oven and let it cool slightly in the pan (about 5 minutes). Then turn the pie over onto a large plate. Let it cool a bit and serve, enjoying the warm, fragrant and juicy dessert.
Remove the saucepan from the heat. Add 1 tsp of vanilla extract and 40 ml of orange juice. Then add 60 g of butter and stir until melted. The sauce should thicken. Pour the caramel sauce into the prepared mold.
Into a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. This step will ensure even distribution of the baking powder and soda in the batter.
In a separate bowl, beat the remaining butter and sugar until creamy. Add the eggs and continue beating until a smooth cream is obtained. Pour in the vanilla extract, orange zest, orange juice and kefir, mix thoroughly.
Add the dry ingredients to the creamed butter and egg mixture and gently but thoroughly mix until just combined. Do not overmix, so that the dough remains tender.
Grate the zest from the oranges with a zester and cut off the peel with a knife. Cut the oranges into circles and carefully arrange them on the caramel sauce in the mold. Arrange the circles as tightly as possible next to each other, filling all the voids.
