To begin, preheat your oven to 180 ºC. Then, thoroughly wash the oranges and carefully remove the orange zest, avoiding the white pith. Cut the oranges in half and squeeze out the juice. You will need the juice from approximately two medium-sized oranges.
Pour the batter into a greased bundt pan. This is not only a nod to tradition, but also a practical step that will ensure the Ciambella bakes evenly.
Bake the cake in a preheated oven on the "top-bottom" setting for about 40 minutes, until a golden crust appears. Don't worry if a crack appears on top – this is completely normal for Ciambella.
Remove the cake from the oven, let it cool slightly, then invert it onto a serving dish. If desired, dust with powdered sugar. Now it's time to brew some aromatic coffee and enjoy this wonderful dessert!
Let's start preparing the dough. Sift the wheat flour into a large bowl, then add the baking powder and a pinch of salt. Whisk all the dry ingredients together thoroughly.
In a separate bowl, crack room-temperature eggs, whisk them lightly, then add sugar. Continue whisking until the mixture is fluffy and pale.
Now, pour the odorless vegetable oil, freshly squeezed orange juice, and, of course, the fragrant orange zest into the egg and sugar mixture. Gently mix with a whisk or an electric mixer on the lowest speed.
Gradually incorporate the flour into the wet mixture, gently combining the ingredients with a whisk or an electric mixer on low speed. The end result should be a smooth batter, with a consistency similar to thick sour cream.
