Jewish-style chicken is a very delicious dish, despite being made with a minimal amount of ingredients. The chicken comes out very tasty, with a beautiful golden-caramel color. The chicken is cooked with a large amount of onions and the addition of baking soda. The taste of the soda is not noticeable, but thanks to the addition of this ingredient, the onions turn into a thick sauce and give the chicken such a beautiful color.

Peel the onion and cut it into large cubes. Heat oil in a pan, add onion, salt and soda, mix well, cover with a lid and cook over low heat for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
The onion will release a lot of juice and decrease in size (this happens because of the soda).
Wash the chicken, dry it, cut into portions and lightly salt. Do not over-salt as the meat will cook in the onion sauce, which already contains salt.
Add the chicken pieces to the onion mixture. Cook the Jewish chicken over low heat, covered, for 30-40 minutes (until the meat is completely cooked). If you have homemade chicken, the cooking time will need to be increased since homemade chicken takes longer to cook.
Very appetizing, tasty Jewish chicken is ready. Serve it hot with mashed potatoes or boiled rice, topped with onion sauce. Bon appetit!
