Pat the tuna steaks dry and season on both sides with salt and cayenne pepper.

Melt the butter in a pan over medium heat.

Add olive oil and peppercorns; cook until peppers soften and begin to crackle, about 5 minutes.

Carefully place the seasoned tuna in the pan and cook until desired doneness, 30 seconds to 1 1/2 minutes per side.

Cut the tuna into 1/4-inch slices and serve.
