Pasta with meatballs made from pre-ground meat cooks very quickly and can be a great alternative to the usual cutlets with a side dish. The dish is prepared according to all the rules of traditional Italian pasta, where the cooked pasta is stewed in a pre-made sauce. However, you can also use ready-made tomato sauce, which will further reduce your time in the kitchen.

Peel and wash the onion and garlic. Rinse the egg. Prepare a bowl, saucepan, colander, and a high-sided frying pan. Grate Parmesan for serving.
Pour water into a pot, place it over high heat, and bring it to a boil. Add half of the prepared salt and the pasta.
Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the cooked pasta in a colander, reserving 2-3 tablespoons of the cooking water.
Finely dice the onion, then divide it into two portions. Mince the garlic with a press or grate it on a fine grater.
Place the ground meat in a bowl, crack an egg into it, add half of the onion, the remaining salt, and Italian herbs.
Knead the ground meat thoroughly until it's uniform. Form small meatballs, about 2.5-3 cm in size.
Place the pan over medium-high heat, add olive oil, and heat it up. Put the meatballs in the oil and fry them on all sides until a firm golden crust forms, which should take about 10 minutes.
Remove the meatballs from the pan. Add the remaining half of the sliced onion to the pan and cook until softened, stirring occasionally. This will take approximately 2-3 minutes.
Add minced garlic and tomato paste to the onion. Pour in 2-3 tablespoons of the pasta water and mix well.
Reduce the heat to low and simmer the sauce for about 3-4 minutes. Add the pasta to the pan and stir to combine.
Place the meatballs in the pan and stir gently. Cook everything together for 2-3 minutes.
Sprinkle the finished pasta and meatballs with grated Parmesan cheese.
