Galushki can be served as a standalone dish or added to a soup. Either way, the result will be delicious. Try putting them in chicken soup, stews, or borscht. If serving them as a main course, you will definitely need a sauce. This could be as simple as vegetable oil or melted butter. You could also use sour cream, mayonnaise, ketchup, or any sauces based on them. Choose according to your preference. Add some chopped fresh herbs, a sauté of onions and carrots, or pieces of fried bacon.

Pour the flour into a deep bowl. Make a well in the center.
Crack an egg into this indentation.
Add salt and water. Knead into a smooth dough. It should not turn out too thick.
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil.
Place the dough on the table and roll it into a log. Cut with a knife or pinch off small, roughly equal-sized pieces of dough and drop them immediately into the boiling water. They will expand significantly during cooking, so boil them in batches of 5 to 8 pieces.
Boil the dumplings for about 5-10 minutes, depending on their size.
Melt the butter in a saucepan or a deep skillet. Turn off the heat. Use a slotted spoon to remove the dumplings from the water and transfer them immediately into the butter. Toss well to coat and transfer to a serving plate.
